Southgate and FA call for ‘Iron’s’ medical records

|

England boss Gareth Southgate is being tipped to recall Jesse Lingard to his Three Lions squad.

Southgate will name a large squad for the qualifiers which starts against San Marino in eight days and The Sun claims that with injuries to six midfielder Lingard is in the frame for a return to the squad.

His incredible form at the Irons since joining on loan from United clearly gives him a big chance in those circumstances with it also being reported that the FA have asked both West Ham and United for Lingard’s medical records.

And apparently David Moyes rang Southgate for a reference before deciding on a loan move for Lingard in January.

It would of course be a massive turnaround of fortunes for the player who last played internationally against Switzerland in the Uefa Nations League finals in June 2019 – his 24th.

And his chance to resurrect his Three Lions career comes with injury issues affecting  James Maddison, Jack Grealish, Jadon Sancho, Harvey Barnes, Jordan Henderson and Bukayo Saka all struggling.

However, the David Moyes factor is probably still the most important of any affecting a switch of club with the pair to enjoy a well known close relationship.
David Moyes has also suggested that Aaron Cresswell could be in line for a recall after an excellent season but given the age profile Southgate has been working to that has to be no more than a 50-50 chance for the 30 year old left back.

Are we to believe this article when you indicate that Cresswell is a “RIGHT BACK”

    • Yep you are – we all make mistakes and have lockdown blocks 🙂 Unsurprising when people ignore everything but an obvious error. There we are – that’s life for yer.

On a purely selfish level I do not want either to go.
That off my chest, I wish them both a kick at the can, both deserving and is what they want.
