Summer signing Crysencio Summerville was a standout winner at the 2024 PFA Awards, securing the Championship Player of the Year title after his stellar performances during the 2023/24 season.
The Hammers’ winger made an immediate impact with a sharp and impressive substitute appearance against Aston Villa over the weekend, but it was his remarkable form last season that earned him the prestigious award.
The 22-year-old had steadily established himself at Leeds United since joining in 2020 and enjoyed a breakout 2022/23 campaign, netting four goals in 28 Premier League appearances.
Despite Leeds’ relegation that season, Summerville became a crucial figure, leading the team’s charge for an immediate return to the top flight. He contributed 21 goals and ten assists in all competitions, guiding the team to the Play-Off final, where they narrowly missed promotion.
His outstanding performances attracted interest from several top clubs, with West Ham ultimately securing the Netherlands U21 starlet in early August.
Summerville, now donning the No. 7 shirt, was also named in the PFA Championship Team of the Season. He made his first appearance in Claret and Blue during the Betway Cup win over RC Celta de Vigo before making his competitive debut for the Irons against Aston Villa in their Premier League opener.
