West Ham’s boardroom problems are heading from bad to worse as the aftershocks from David Sullivan’s departure and the BBC Panorama programme continue to be felt.
Worryingly for the club it seems the former Chairman’s attempts to separate himself and the allegations from impacting the good name of the football club have not succeeded.
As reported by Roshane Thomas, West Ham reporter for the New York Times, the club now face a serious issue with their main club sponsor:
Regardless of the shirtfront deal ending soon with main sponsor Boyle Sports, the alarm bells will be ringing in the West Ham United boardroom right now with any future sponsorship deal looking difficult – to say the least – in the light of the main sponsor’s concern. As Thomas writes:
In a statement to The Athletic, a Boyle Sports spokesperson said: “BOYLE Sports is extremely concerned at the serious nature of the allegations levelled against David Sullivan.
“It is our understanding that the Independent Football Regulator is reviewing this matter urgently and we wholeheartedly support their efforts in doing so.”
West Ham will be in the process of trying to find new shirt front sponsors for the 2026/7 season: This news from Boyle Sports could hardly have come at a worst time for the club, hundreds of millions in debt and relegated to the second tier of English football.
When has anyone in the Football industry ever acted quickly or in the best interest of the fans ?
Look at how they let Chelsea off for serious breaches of PSR because they were “honest” no matter that they won multiple trophies while they had breached the regulations.
Then there is Man City…
How many years over 100 charges no actions as of yet, Pep has left so maybe something is imminent though won’t hold my breath.
Expect this to take time and be concluded poorly with likely counter court cases as is about to happen with Everton.
they wouldve done their research and known all about it before sponsoring the club. no betting sponsers so no renewal of their contract so of course they are going to go full damage control on west ham. awful company anyway
Which basically means . They haven’t had the contract renewed.
It is potentially very damaging that the club knew Sullivan wasn’t allowed near the women’s team or the youngsters and how did the FA sit on this ban . It’s going from bad to horrific. Laughing stock at the very least
