Sporting Lisbon boss Jorge Jesus has paved the way for William Calvalho to leave the club.

And the Portuguese media are widely reporting that the 25 year old midfielder is now on his way to West Ham.

ClaretandHugh confirmed earlier this afternoon the Hammers had made a record 30 million euros bid for the player and that Sporting Clube  de Portugal – internationally known as Sporting Lisbon – are close to agreeing a deal.

The Hammers would land a stunning coup were the player to arrive at the London Stadium and this afternoon it was becoming increasingly apparent that may well be the case.

ClaretandHugh Facebook Group member  Nuno Moreira de Almeida – a Hammers and Lisbon fan based in Lisbon  – who watches the Portuguese team every week during the season –  revealed: ” Jorge Jesus has signed Argentine Rodrigo Battaglia to assume the William Carvahlo’s role in the team.

“Most journalists here are now reporting that William is on his way to West Ham. Remember too he is a European champion with the Portuguese national team.

I would say he has been waiting for a big transfer for at least two years. Last year, after Portugal won the European championship, William asked to leave but the Sporting president managed him to stay for one more season

He is a great player. I watch William every other  week in Sporting stadium – I am also a long time Sporting fan – and he is pure class!”

  1. If anyone knows Nuno knows.Try saying that after 10 pints 😁
Wont believe it until it actually happens but bloody hell if we managed to blag this one what a signing 👍🙌

  2. I would feel a touch sorry for Obiang after he worked so hard for a starting berth but its the nature of the beast and Cavalho is a big step up in class.

I read that if Cavalho signs it must mean Lanzini is going. They are totally different players!

    • Lanzini has been offered a new £85k deal supposedly don’t t think that’s true maybe Feggo and Snodgrass

    • Maybe Kouyate has a more serious injury Bennie, I think it is Noble that would be under threat not Obiang who looks tailor made to partner Carvalho, with Carvalho and Obiang we would have two players that can protect the back four much like when Arsenal had Viera and Petit we would have a very solid looking midfield duo, Arnautovic and Antonio out wide Lanzini at number 10 and Littlepea up top ?

    • Why feel sorry for Obiang? Noble will be dropped before Obby!!

    • Yes shame that ? We can’t let slowgo ffs cos he’s so fekin loyal and hard working 😂😂
And what with the new stomach and buggy , class absolute class 😂😂 I’ve heard its turbo charged with cowhorn handlebars 😂😂

      • Ok well i may be wrong but i still have a bad feeling Noble gets picked before Obs.Firstly Cavalho has too sign so im jumping the gun with my sympathy i know.I admire Obs though the way he plays and made it to the team without ever grumbling when not playing.

  3. Obiang + Carvalho are defensive mid base.

arnie, manu and antonio in front of them.

It’s noble and kouyate who are under threat from this IMHO.

    • +1 master we could play 4 2 3 1 formation with great mix of defence and attack because both Carvalho and Obiang are capable of breaking forward, last year and the year before we looked a little short on physicality this and the purchase of Arnautovic change that, don’t they ?

  4. They seem serious about it and really after sells out net spend is only £10m and we need a real DCM badly we turnover way to much in and he can also play as a CB better than Fonte. So could look at it as getting 2 for 1. Like Dier is for Spurs.
They have said they want £36m but apparently we are determined to make it haooen by reports.

Would def help take us to next level

  5. Well yes fellas i know logic says Obiang should play with Cavalho but my gut tells me that some how by hook or by crook Noble will retain his place in preference to Pedro.I totally disagree with it personally but i think it could still well be the case.

    • History would make you right Benny but I have a feeling Noble upset Bilic last season when he kept his injury to himself getting Stijn the tin tac in the process. We will soon find out if Obiang and Eddy start against Utd.

  6. There’s an easy answer to this one. Drop Fonte and play a fit Kouyate behind Obiang and Carvalho. That would be a strong, athletic and powerful spine of the team

  7. I wouldn’t worry about formations , its the quality in depth we want , and its a step in the right direction 👌 keep em coming I say 😉

  8. With the amount of injures we get I’m sure everyone will be needed.

    • Exactly what I thought no ones replacing we need full squad for the season obviously there will be favorites and cav is a top player but its a long season and all will be needed

  9. This would be such a good signing that I wouldn’t care who gets dropped for him. In fact he is a bolted on 1 for 1 replacement for Obiang because they play such a similar game, but that doesn’t mean Obiang would go. As 32 says Bilic might want to of them to protect our leaky defense. Now this season looks very promising ( if we get him )

    • This is a great summer. The season would have to be brilliant to not be an anti-climax.

      • Well i just read that our summer signings this season havnt been good enough according to one fan.Mind you it was on the site where very few of them are ever happy about anything lol

      • Even without Carvalho it was good but when we start paying big money for the less sexy positions you know that Sullivan is taking it serious, not ashamed to admit my nervousness in preseason with regards to transfers was completely unfounded well done so far DS keep up the good work 👍👍👍

        • Dont see how we cant be happy with the players we have signed so far. Most realists would have taken Hart,Zab,Arnie & Chico in May im sure.

  10. You can’t please some people ever. Very happy with what we have got in – youngsters looking good and much better purchase than last year and they haven’t even played in anger yet

  11. He’d just be another poor signing, won’t be as good as Captain never lose a game, would be a waste of money after a misplaced pass or not picking out the Poppodom quick enough 😆😆😆

  12. Im sure some of our lot are closet Spuds the way they dribble when talking about them. Its cringeworthy.
They batter everything we do but get lob ons talking about Spurs.

  13. You really should keep away gaz ! You are suffering mild wettitus at present 😂
Go watch basil and sybil on nige,s video and cheer you’re self up 😂😂

  14. Dont want to p*ss on anyones parade but im sure by tomorrow we will read how Everton & Spuds have put bids in for him.Its compulsory 😂

  15. Theres not much to disagree with in that Lama.Nail on the head in many respects.I think most fans respect Noble but can still see his limitations these days.Thats why signing someone of Carvalhos standing is really important.

  16. Straight to the point ! Sad but there it is, what we have been saying for a while now!
Noblettes have a read with a box of Kleenex 😭,
F,me if bilic and jerkabit didn’t smell the coffee then they were walking the line😉
We all respect him as a bloke and as a servant but when its time this game takes no prisoners , its better for him to admit to himself its a backseat or become a Nolan figure and then it gets nasty nasty 😬

  17. Obvious replacement for Noble not Pedro. I’m not saying Noble’s time is up with us, far from it but anyone can see that he is not up for 90 minutes. We need some added bite with a player who can not only boss midfield but also get back to help defend when needed and get the ball forward at speed. This guy might just be the answer but I suppose someone else will nip in and steal him from under our noses.
Just seen that a lot will depend on how Sporting get on in there European ties.
