Spurs are today discussing a potential deal to sign Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to Sky Sports. The 24-year-old has been offered out by Barcelona, who want to sell some players, ahead of the transfer deadline.
Spurs remain interested in Barkley but have been put off making a move for him in this window due to a serious injury. West Ham were previously interested in a loan deal for Gomes and would go head to head with Spurs but negotiations broke down over a contract clause leaving a free run for Tottenham.
The Portugal international made 17 La Liga starts for Barca last season after a move from Valencia but struggled to sparkle in their renowned midfield. Gomes began his career at Benfica and has 25 caps for Portugal since a 2014 debut.

I notice Watford have managed to buy a player from Sporting Lisbon. Reports say this deal was only possible after members of the Watford board travelled to Lisbon to kiss the feet of the Sporting board members & to hand over their wives & children as hostages. Watford have agreed to throw in a fleet of private yachts for the Sporting owners. A rumour of a secret clause in the agreement, providing twenty vestal virgins, is yet to be confirmed. The Watford negotiator, in an interview given to Skysports, commented ‘Who said they were impossible to deal with?’
Watford have made some good signings Richarlison was a coup and they got his permit fast too. Think Gzregorz would have been great but since Slav is set on just 1 player we aren’t sending Reps to talk to players and try and make a deal happen.
Surely Gomes on loan who can actually play DCM and is great passer and fit ! Would be better then Wilshere who has been fit less then AC and prefer more Attacking role.
