West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui is wasting no time revamping his squad, with the right-back position a major area of concern following Ben Johnson’s departure to Ipswich Town.
The Hammers reportedly hold aspirations of landing Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but the Red Devils’ intentions regarding the player remain unclear. This has led West Ham to explore more attainable options, with Kyle Walker-Peters of Southampton emerging as a frontrunner.
According to media outlets, Walker-Peters is seen as the “easier” option due to his contract expiring next year at Southampton. This potentially lower transfer fee makes him a more realistic target for West Ham.
The recent sale of midfielder Flynn Downes to Southampton could also prove beneficial for West Ham in their pursuit of Walker-Peters. The established relationship between the clubs might ease negotiations for the right-back.
However, West Ham are not alone in their interest. Walker-Peters’ former club, Tottenham Hotspur, is also reportedly keen on acquiring him, potentially as a backup option.
West Ham are determined to find a solution at right-back quickly as they prepare for the upcoming season. Walker-Peters’ contract situation makes him a strong contender, but Tottenham’s interest adds another dimension to this transfer saga.
While solidifying the backline is a priority, West Ham are also addressing their attacking options. Their initial target, Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, proved too expensive with a £40 million price tag. The club is now exploring alternative striking solutions, with names like Alexander Sørloth and Jonathan David reportedly on our radar.
Both Walker Peters and Wan Bissaka have contracts that run out in roughly a years time. Neither should be easier or more difficult than the other for that reason.
Both will be worth a lot less next window and zilch the window after so both Southampton and Man Utd are very likely to sell to somebody.
We deserve to lose out on Walker Peters, we naively sold our bargaining chip separately
This is exactly the same post put up earlier today with a different heading. Lazy journalism to get clicks for a 2 week old rumour. No wonder this site gets abuse, not just here but on other forums. I don’t read anything on hear i haven’t read before. Their so called inside source is probably the tea lady’s hairdresser. Every ‘exclusive’ is a copy and paste from other sites which 9 times out of 10 turn out to be wrong information. Other than that at least it’s not raining
It’s rumoured that villareal have rejected our bid for Sørloth so that won’t be happening. Steitden doesn’t want Jonathan David so other sites are saying, Callum Wilson and DCL too old and injury prone. En Nesyri is begging for a bid but nothing has happened so lord knows whats happening there. Looks like we’ll have Antonio on steroids up front
“West Ham are determined to find a solution at right-back quickly”
Please define “Quickly” as this story is at least 2 weeks old and we are no nearer to an answer.
And as for our striking solutions, Sørloth and David have been batted about for so long now I’m sure they are both due to hang their boots up.
I just refuse to believe that we have any interest in Callum Wilson. Has Moyes returned?
Re Walker-Peters, we’re we not told last week that Southampton wanted Downes plus £10m for him? So £25m in total. You say that this is a cheaper option than Wan Bissaka. Yet it’s been reported here that ManU would accept £15-17m?
Well said,just more click bait
They talk rubbish, don’t they?
