Fabrizio Romano has been particularly prolific with his West Ham updates today—and he’s just dropped another one.

At lunchtime, the football ITK revealed the Hammers had a €20m bid rejected for Slavia Prague wing-back El Hadji Malick Diouf.

Now, Romano has followed that up with fresh news on the future of Mohammed Kudus. Writing on his social media account on X, the well-connected journalist posted: “Talks between Mohammed Kudus and Tottenham on project/personal terms are underway, positive approach.”

Roughly translated, that means Kudus is in negotiations with Spurs—but crucially, there’s still no deal in place between Tottenham and West Ham.

One small but significant detail came at the end of Romano’s update. He added that two other clubs are still in the running for Kudus. It was an easily missed line on a busy news day—one that saw West Ham unveil new commercial partners BOYLE Sports, confirm the departure of out of contract players, and finally admit that bids have been made for players.

But the fact remains: while Tottenham appear to be making serious progress with Kudus on personal terms, no transfer fee has yet been agreed. And with two unnamed clubs still lurking in the background, there may yet be a twist in this saga.

That said, the Spurs noise feels more credible than most of the previous speculation—and the way things are moving, we may not be waiting long for a resolution.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Why on earth would you sell to spurs ??? Help make another crap team better!!!! Are the board completely mad , why don’t they just sell the club and move to Iraq

I’ve understood for quite a while now that we would never deal with ‘them’.

If Kudus is paying attention, he must be very disappointed with what he is seeing. Since the appointment of Lopetegui, there has been no positive story relating to Kudus, and certainly nothing to match the gushing praise he received for his playing skill during his first season. A drop in form, allegations of rebellion and petulance (true or not, it doesn’t matter) and suddenly his dreams of playing CL football for the likes of Man. City or Liverpool have been replaced by an opportunity to move to the team that finished three places below West Ham and one place above relegation. He could do a lot worse than stay at WHU for another year, dedicate his season to rebuilding his reputation, lifting the spirits of the entire club and to dragging WHU back into the limelight and restoring his international career. He could do it, still only be 25 and be a bargain at £85M.

I don’t understand how players these days negotiate personal terms when no transfer is agreed? Do they get permission from the club to do it, how does it work?

    • Timbo says:

Exactly. If Spurs offer him great terms that he accepts but they won’t pay us what we want, won’t we just be left with a (more) disgruntled player.
