Spurs likely to tweak XI too

Spurs are more than likely to play a rotated side against West Ham in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

The Hammers take on the Irons in the quarter-final of the competition in north London.

Of course, David Moyes’ side have been excellent in the Carabao Cup thus far this season and have beaten both Manchester City and Manchester United thus far this term.

Spurs, by comparison, squeaked past Wolves on penalties and then beat Burnley 1-0.

In those first two games, Spurs rotated heavily; in the first game, they brought in Pierluigi Gollini in goal, Japhet Tanganga at right-back, Dele Alli in midfield and Bryan Gil on the wing. Harry Kane did play in both games but Son Heung-Min has been on the bench for both fixtures.

Against Burnley, as well, Spurs again played Gollini and Gil and brought Steven Bergwijn into the side.

After their 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the weekend, it’s likely that Tottenham will try to ensure their first-team stars rebuild some of their fitness given that we are slap bang in the middle of the festive fixture list.

West Ham could make changes too, meaning there could be two heavily rotated squads on the pitch on Wednesday.
