Depending on who you believe half the Premier League appears to be interested in signing one young defender currently under consideration. This Gent full back has been described as an ‘incredible star’ which seems a bit lavish for a defender but since I haven’t seen him play I’ll reserve judgement. His hair would certainly co-ordinate nicely with Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the opposite defensive flank!

Tottenham are the latest to try and land young English full back Archie Brown who moved from Derby County overseas in 2021 and now has other clubs including Manchester United apparently scouting him and trying to secure his signature. According to givemesport.com West Ham are now ramping up their interest which is good to hear: A 22 year old English homegrown left back would be a great acquisition without breaking the bank: Transfermarkt.com claim €7 million but usually these values are half the final price.

Interesting to see how West Ham are also being linked with a move for Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey – another young defender described as ‘jet heeled,’ I think, by Gonzo last week. From memory Lamptey can play across the back line: Either of these two young defenders would be a big step forward for West Ham’s mobility and pace at the back.

Tariq Lamptey also linked with a move to London Stadium

Will be a relief to sign anyone under thirty, to be frank.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Tariq Lamptey’s a very decent full back. But we know how things go when West Ham bring in injury prone players.
