West Ham United have secured their first signing of the summer transfer window, bringing in Brazilian defender Fabricio Bruno from Flamengo for a reported £12.7 million, according to Mundo Rubro Negro.
The transfer fee won’t be a one-time hit to West Ham’s finances. The Hammers will pay for Bruno in three installments over the course of the season, providing some financial flexibility.
While Bruno is set to be Lopetegui’s first signing as manager, it appears the defender was identified by the club before Lopetegui’s arrival. He reportedly impressed scouts during a Brazil vs England international match.
West Ham fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Bruno in action for the Hammers. He will play his final game for Flamengo against Millonarios on Tuesday, May 28th, before joining his new club.
The arrival of Lopetegui and the signing of Bruno signify a period of change at West Ham. Manager David Moyes has been replaced, and Director of Football Tim Steidten seems to be leading the transfer charge. Bruno, along with reported interest in Brazilian youngster Wesley Gassova, reflects a shift in transfer strategy.
Despite a lack of European experience, Bruno has a strong track record in the Brazilian Serie A, even earning call-ups to the national team. With over 110 appearances for Flamengo and two international caps, Bruno has the potential to be a solid addition to West Ham’s backline.
If its not announced by the club its not legitimate , especially as he has another game to play for his present club .
Sticking his head in our claret and blue kit before he has actually signed is unprofessional even for you Ad/content fillers.
Let’s hope he doesn’t get injured on his last game , flys to UK , completes medical and then signs for us .
George Parish was a legend.
We had that chant years ago…did u ever go to the Boleyn……
Broooono! Broooono! … just practicing my chant like the Man U and Newcastle fans! 😂
As long as it’s not “Bru…noooooo!”
You can’t compare Flamengo to the Premiere League, if this geezer was any good at defending surely he would have been playing champions league football by now as he’s 28 years old, not exactly a knockout signing you know what I mean Arry
