Startling Lucas Paquetá update emerges from inside West Ham

Image for Startling Lucas Paquetá update emerges from inside West Ham

This weekend there have been reports of West Ham’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paquetá being linked with a move back to Brazil. The Hammers star has seen something of a return to form under Graham Potter with a man of the match performance against Aston Villa, even whilst played out of his normal position.

Both Lopetegui and Steidten had gone out of their way to keep Paquetá on side during the ordeal of his FA enquiry – Tim Steidten reportedly travelling to Brazil to meet Paquetá and Lopetegui keeping his midfielder in the side when most coaches would have lost faith, so poor was the Brazilians form at the end of last year.

So, if true, the reports must have been seen as something of a betrayal by West Ham who have stood by their star throughout his ordeal: The Hammers have bent over backwards it would seem to accommodate the Brazilian.(As always important to note that regarding the FA allegations, Paquetá denies any wrong doing )

Quite how West Ham received the news of stories of Paquetá’s agent being dispatched to Flamengo, his old club, and the Hammers’ own attitude to his reported desire to head back to Brazil – how had that been received?

We contacted our senior source inside West Ham who gave us the startling response:

“Ask him not me – I know nothing about it” – Ouch. The sense of latent betrayal was almost oozing from the screen as we read it.

Pretty clearly, if , as reported in Odia if, his agent has been back to discuss a move with Flamenco, then Paquetá has gone behind the back of the club that pays his wages and which has supported him throughout the enquiry and FA charges against him: The next step is to try and get verification from other sources that the meeting actually took place: Relying one one report out of Brazil is less than satisfactory.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Flamengo cannot afford Lucas pacqueta. In much the same way whufc couldn’t afford haaland . And the FA have clearly very little on LP and are kicking the can down the road to avoid him suing them .

  • Phil Baker says:

All agents are greedy and will do anything to make themselves more money even if the player is totally unaware of what’s going on . Business is business and if he’s found guilty he’s worthless but if he’s found innocent Westham still have 2 years on a contract and he’d be worth anywhere between 50 and 85 million depending on how well he plays in these next 14 games .

Consider me well and truly ‘startled’!!

There is no loyalty anymore, even less with South American players. Which is why players like Noble are a special breed. There is, was and only shall be one club for him and he is a rare breed. If Paqueta has done this then let him go. I’d sooner get £20 million than nothing which could happen if he is found guilty. Let’s be honest he hasn’t really set our world alight since he came here has he? If he wants to go so badly then sell him, because the last thing we need now is a petulant, sulking player ruining the good atmosphere that Graham Potter is nurturing.

“he hasn’t really set our world alight since he came here has he?”

      WTF are you talking about?

Good enough that Man City/Pep were looking to sign him for £80mil + after he laid on the goal that won West Ham there 1st trophy in 40+ years.

  • Brian says:

    Don’t sell him
If he gets banned after investigation for betting – Then sue him
If he doesn’t get banned then sell him for an inflated price to Man City
Whichever is the outcome let’s make sure that WHFC are in the driving seat not the player or agent

    Emerges from inside Martin Treasure.

Why do you even mention this rubbish, you must have other ways to entice clicks.
This was once the one and only West Ham site, I’m talking about 80’s & 90’s when if
you read something that was posted on here, you new that it had a iota of truth about it.

  • Dave says:

    What a ridiculous non headline.
So, basically there’s nothing from the club or player. Start a rumour, create a story then cause an issue.
    Great journalism

  • Bill Ryan says:

If he’s sold when hopefully he gets cleared we want at least what we paid for him and I can’t see any Brazilian side matching his wages either

  • Tony says:

isn’t this what agents do all the time? Including agents acting for clubs like West Ham?
That meeting is alleged to have happened a week ago, and according to Sport Witness

“Flamengo, for their part, are waiting to find the outcome of his hearing to decide the best formula to negotiate with the Premier League club.”

So he’s not going anywhere any time soon and if he’s found guilty on the betting charges he won’t be going anywhere at all and if he’s cleared Flamengo are going to need to cough up a bit more than £20mill.
