Stats-loving Sam should note CC’s Opta rating!

ColeGiven that Sam Allardyce loves a stat or ten here’s one for him!

The Opta figures for last week’s match against Spurs showed Carlton Cole record -29 (yes that’s MINUS 29) to be named the team’s worst player.

Now, presumably in anybody’s world, that’s a dropping situation particularly Allardyce’s where stats take on the kind of importance given to Holy books to people of faith!

The problem apparently we are told is that neither Diafra Sakho or Enner Valencia are fully fit and may not be available for a full 90 minutes.

One thought on that…even if either are operating at let’s say 70 per cent it would be hard for them to produce worse figures than Carlton.

Don’t get me wrong I believe CC has been a great servant down the years but I think those stats tell us all what we need to know.

For stats-loving Sam they surely mean even more and MUST shape his team selection for tomorrow…SURELY!

  1. If only Hugh! The man can’t see the wood for the trees! Let’s hope I’m wrong!

  3. CC’s touch on saturday went further than I can shoot. Off the pace and thinking was a week behind the defenders, always out of place. How BFS could have started with CC who was released and Vaz Te who no one wanted or he would have been gone.
Then he has the Brassneck to come on and say that our problem is a lack of goals whilst still playing one up front and continuing with the ineffective Nolan?
What has to happen before that man admits he is wrong and changes the personnel and formation? Zarate, was an ideal to replacement for the ineffectual Nolan when they were down to 10 men, he would have scared the living daylights out of them, but no, like when Hull went down to 10 men last year and the muppet came out and said it’s hard to play against 10 men, he sat back to contain things. He is a dinosaur that I am surprised has not put in a bid for the “Wizard of Dribble” and world class winger Sir Stanley Matthews, about the right age and plays the BFS way. Which was revolutionary in the 50’s.

  4. I’ve just read that Danny Welbeck is potentially available for £15m, provided he doesn’t go to a top six team. With Ross McCormack sold for £11m and both Rhodes and Long set for £12m deals, it makes Danny a steal if the wages are reasonable.

Completely unlikely, but could you imagine!
