Jean Clair-Todibo will not be leaving West Ham in the current transfer window.
Martin recently covered the story surrounding agent and intermediary, Vincenzo Morabito who spoke to Tutto Napoli, and said “Todibo is sending messages to Juve, he regretted going to West Ham, but I think Giuntoli (Juve Sporting Director) is unlikely to go for players that have said no to him.”
West Ham paid a loan fee of £4.2m to acquire the player from OGC Nice with an obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer for a fee of £27.2m plus £2.5m potential add ons.
Todibo also took to his Instagram account in late December writing in response to a fan, “I’m not gonna leave big man West Ham are massive! Don’t believe the media!”
Upon signing for West Ham in the summer, he stated “I am really excited to be signing for West Ham. It is a dream come true to play in the Premier league, the best league in the world.”
It had been widely reported that the player had a dressing room bust up with Spanish Head coach Julen Lopetegui at half-time during the recent 5-2 defeat by Arsenal.
Though Todibo, has struggled to make a significant impact at the London Stadium, he has shown glimpses of his potential. However he has not been afforded a consistent run of games, with Mavropanos being preferred by the club coaching staff.
Todibo does have a chequered past, having been on loan at Schalke from Barcelona with a purchase option which the German side failed to activate and a similar loan deal to Portugese giants Benfica who decided to not sign the French centre-back.
His former agent Bruno Satin was quite scathing of the player, speaking to Calciotoday “He has great qualities yet lacks humility” Having settled at OG Nice joining the French Ligue One club in 2021, he made over 101 league appearances and earnt two senior caps for France in 2023.
While West Ham do need to offload players before making new signings in January, Todibo will not be among those sold.
