Steidten back on the transfer trail

|

West Ham’s Director of Football, Tim Steidten, has reinitiated the pursuit of January signings, using his connections in the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen’s defender, Piero Hincapie, – a central defender who can play at left back – has emerged as a potential target, with rumours of his departure from the German club circulating in recent months.

Steidten very much looked like the cat who got the cream as he was pictured alongside Jarrod Bowen. The pair were announcing Bowen’s huge new West Ham contract, but now it’s back to business for the head of the Hammers recruiting operation.

Hincapie has been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga but  the Ecuadorian international opted to stay. Now the Hammers are keen which comes as no surprise given Steidten will know the player from his Bayer Leverkusen days.

Steidten – with great contacts at the club – will know Hincapie well and will hope to use that very much in his negotiations.

Having signed a deal until 2027 back in Febriayry he won’t come cheap with anm estimated price of £35 million on his head.
