Steidten makes a serious point

Despite being unable to achieve serious business in the winter window, Tim Steidten’s impact on the club in his short time as technical director has been immense. And he has chosen to make a serious point about Edson Alvarez in particular.

Steidten makes a serious point

The arrival of Mo Kudus and the defensive midfielder  has made a huge difference to the team and  the defensive midfielder.

And Steidten discussing Alvarez in an interview with Sky Germany declared  that he was delighted Borusia Dortmund had been slow in following up interest in the former Ajax man.

That allowed Steidten to move in and persuade the player that West Ham and the Premier League was the best destination for him.

He has been a huge presence and it is not without significance that we have been short of our best when he has been unfit or ill over recent weeks.

Discussing the midfielder’s impact, Steidten said: “He has a very big influence on our game. I am very happy that Dortmund may have been a bit slow and I had the chance to get him.

Steidten has been aware of his qualities – along of course with those of Kudus – for a long time and eventually sealed a £75 million deal with Ajax for the pair of them

And commenting on Alvarez in particular he added: “I have also known him for a very long time. He is a super important player for us. He is a leader. An absolute leadership figure. He is top.”
