Steidten gets his way?
We now appear to be in negotiations to sign the VfB Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos,
This is according to ExWHUEmployee.
Presumably this is due to the Irons losing patience with the proposed Maguire deal, and not before time.
Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast Ex explains that the club are beginning to focus on Steidten’s recommendations.
And he adds that a number of centre backs have been put forward by the German including his fellow countryman Jonathan Tah of his former club Leverkusen, Odilon Kossounou or Edmond Tapsoba who also play for Leverkusen, Danilho Doekhi of Union Berlin and a few players based in Italy and France.
Ex continues that Trevoh Chalobah of Chelsea is a player in whom the Hammers have a keen interest .
Then he declares: “However we believe that Greek international Konstantinos Mavropanos could also have been in negotiations and could well be getting close to agreeing a deal – although we are awaiting confirmation on this.
“The defender plays for German side VfB Stuttgart and had a period at Arsenal where he played 7 games for the North Londoners. He stands at 6 foot 4 and has been linked with the club before.”
I am actually quite impressed, as it appears there seems to be a lot of activity going on behind the scenes
This lad is bang average. I hate a defender who continually goes to ground. This signing has Moyes written all over it. In my opinion this is not a DOF recommendation. I know I will get slaughtered for this but I would nearly prefer Maguire and that says it all. I also thought we were looking for a player with pace- – dont know who has scouted this guy but he should be taken off scouting duties.
Hartson and Winterburn were ex-Arsenal, yet they made a big contribution when they were needed.
Surely we can do better than this guy, we need young up and coming not, rejects from Arsenal
Mavropanos Should be avoided in my opinion !
