Plettenburg reports that Bayern Munich are expected to resume talks with the player after the international break.
A host of Premier clubs have shown an interest in the player, including Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and West Ham. Saudi clubs have also been linked.
Arsenal appear to be the most advanced in conversations with the players representatives, yet are believed to prefer Spanish winger Nico Williams who is available for a £49m release clause.
Sane joined Bayern Munich in 2020 for a fee of £44.7m, and has since gone onto win the title three times with Bayern. Prior to that, he won two Premier league titles, one FA Cup and two EFL cups with Manchester City.
Sane has expressed a fondness for the Premier League, yet any hope of West Ham being a strong contender were quickly dismissed, speaking to Sport Bild, he said, “The appeal for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles”
West Ham will likely focus on the free
transfer market this summer, which will inevitably be a competitive market, given the majority of other clubs similarly face PSR issues.
At 29, Sane is entering the later stages of his career, but will have no shortage of suitors. With a reported current weekly salary of €288,462 and bonus of €96,154 Sane is expected to either stay in Germany or move to another top European club, or the Saudi league.
With the window opening on June 12th, West Ham will need to ensure they have realistic targets in mind. While being linked to high profile players is a sign of ambition, Graham Potter and his team will focus on younger players with potential. A major squad rebuild will make this process challenging, and the chances of seeing Jonathan David, Angel Gomes, Paul Pogba and Leory Sane in a West Ham shirt next season are highly unlikely!

West Ham fans are unlikely to see Pogba and Sane in Claret & Blue
Zero chance of Sane or any other top player joining us when he said it all. “The appeal for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles” Let’s not try and pretend we can offer regular CL football and be competing for titles when we are in 16th place and 15 points below Europa League qualification never mind Champions League.
We had our best chance when we competed for 3 consecutive seasons in Europe for the first time in our 128 year history. And missing out on a top 4 finish and CL qualification by a solitary win in 2020/21 but we are nowhere near that level now. Sorry but no chance.
Let’s hope the recruitment team do their job as a lot smaller clubs than West Ham seem to know a good player ! We don’t want any Billy Big B******* who are here just for the pound note, we’ve had too many to mention
Dwarfs an idiot. That’s the clubs downfall.
