Tim Steidten has been a very busy boy because West Ham are in advanced talks to sign 30-year-old Guido Rodríguez as a free agent. In what has been a relentless few days in the transfer window for the Hammers, Rodríguez could join Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Niclas Füllkrug, and Crysencio Summerville in an incredible transfer spending spree.

The breaking news has come as a bolt from the blue and the club have done incredibly well to keep the deal under wraps. Negotiations are ongoing with the player’s representatives after he left Real Betis. Although Guido has several options, West Ham are actively working to secure the deal and are understood to be the players first choice.

Initially expected to move to Barcelona, the deal fell through after Xavi left the club. The 6ft 1in holding midfielder had signed a pre-contract agreement with the Catalan giants and has been searching for a new team following the collapse of the Barca deal.

Rodríguez plays as a defensive midfielder for the Argentina national team. He has earned 30 caps for Argentina and also holds an Italian passport.

He has also played nearly 80 games alongside West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez, as they were teammates at the Mexican side Club América.

The player is thought to be well known to Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui.

just highlights you know nothing on what Tim and the boys are really doing behind the scenes, might as well make up some stuff as well and post !
so pretty pointless, guessing and chucking your two pence worth in, and telling you last few months loads of hammers see this!

  • John Ayris says:

Do we need a holding midfielder unless one leaves.

Could one in on a free be a book balancing exercise ?

    • Luke says:

I’d say he’d be brought in as cover for Edson Alvarez. There was an injury scare after he came back from Copa America so he will need cover just in case Eddy is to be out injured at any point. We don’t have anyone reliable enough to cover our defensive midfield currently. That’s my guess, he’d be a great signing on a free transfer!

      • Charlie Farley says:

This guy wouldn’t accept coming in as cover. He’d be a valued squad member. Gone are the days of the favoured starting eleven……. Tim and Julen are building a bigger squad where no-one is guaranteed a start.

    • steve eastlake says:

All the trash these sites spout absolute rubbish and the worst id west ham central who is a spurs fan so Luke hundreds of others block him on social media

    • Spen says:

Anything or anyone to replace ****check

  • Andy Stone says:

Great to have competition for a position we really only have one option currently. Alvarez is fantastic but we know the discipline record is shaky and after a bad hamstring injury another option would be great for the club. Likely he’ll be a good role model for our young players to learn from too.

    • Jeeps says:

Apart from Cresswell (which is really a bench warmer) what competition is there for Emerson at left back?
      Presumably an academy player, Scarles?

      • Andy Stone says:

If Scarles gets his chance it’d be good to have some solid cover and someone with huge experience around him.

  • Kip says:

Why don’t they just get summerville done..for a start …wtf is going on …..4 o’clock was the time you gave…
Now your mentioning another when the fans want deals to be actually signed..so summerville would be a start

  • King James says:

May aswell have kept Downes. Less wages I have no doubt .

    • Charlie Farley says:

FFS….Flynn Downes was never good enough to be a West Ham player. He belongs in the Championship, where he’ll be playing this time next year. As will Ben Johnson.

  • Tezzard says:

If we get another central midfielder reckon souchek will be sold

    • PAUL GARNER says:

Hi Tezzard, i fancy mctominay from manure, fulham have bid 20 mill, we can beat that i am sure, think he would be a rice replacement, great player.

  • ricardo says:

Media in Argentina mention this as a done deal. He is 30 years old, but for once, there is no transfer fee required. He represents a good addition to the team. Similar age, but also good to get him would be Fullkrug. Very active Tim Steidten!

  • Charlie Farley says:

In Julen and Tim we trust………. or at least, I do!

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Just commented on another post asking about this so my bad for not looking in the right area, he also played with Fornals at Betis so he will have some good reference points, him and Alvarez would be a dream team to play in front of a defence, give us a lot of bite, hope we sign him.

  • Jay says:

This guy will be an excellent signing. Provides cover and competition for Alvarez, and in tougher games will no doubt play alongside Alvarez, and really fortify our defence. Hope we get him over the line.

  • JOHN RIPPENGALE says:

It would nice to have a chance to read your posts, but your effing lottery ad, is continually popping up,

  • Hammerhearted says:

def a replacement for Soucek. Bless him, always put his heart into everything but looked like a giraffe on crack at times. This is a statement signing for us. Hats off to Steiden.

  • Stevie Mac says:

There in for so many and most of the time they get nothing west ham have done this for years now making it look like there trying. Here’s one to go by Fulham put it out there yesterday that they where going to buy someone and they got him today. And it’s been put out there by west ham that where buying a player all week and still are. West Ham do a lot of talking and buy nothing, that’s the difference

  • Collin says:

I agree, nobody should know what’s going but the club, we have had so many players comr in over the years that we didn’t even know was being negotiated, I’m fine with it not being out there in the press, when it does the fee goes up and all the teams that are looking at Tim to see who he is looking at

  • The fuel in David Moyes gaslight says:

Great news so can we now sell Soucek

  • Gav says:

I’m sorry everyone but enough is enough for me on this site.
