Steidten’s big role in Moyes’ future

David Moyes’ decision to offer no decision on his future at West Ham will clearly let Tim Steidten very much into the picture when talks start with the board.

For should the Scot decide to call time on the club at the end of his third year it will inevitably be down to the technical director to decide – with David Sullivan – who should follow him into West Ham.

There is a general view that Moyes and the new technical director have very different outlooks on what type of players should be brought to the Hammers.

Steidten/Moyes look in different directions

Steidten is a great believer in younger players whilst Moyes’ record shows that he prefers older and more experienced performers.

His determination in the summer to bring in Harry Maguire is the big example of his approach whereas Steidten has been already sounding out younger players in Europe.

It remains to be seen how the relationship between the pair works out long term but it must  be remembered that should Moyes decide to depart the technical director will be having a big input into who becomes the next Irons boss.
