Steidten’s €30 Million Knock-Back Is Good News For West Ham

Before the transfer window has even opened West Ham are receiving news back about potential bids for the much-needed striker. As per previous reports, high on the ‘wanted’ list was Brazilian Yuri Alberto from Corinthians. Alberto had played in Russia before the Ukraine war so was used to being away from South America- less of a risk of him ‘doing  a Fullkrug’ and not settling in London after an expensive transfer.

From reports today it seems West Ham have already been knocked-back in their bid for Alberto. Brazilian media outlet soutimao.com.br have suggested today that The Hammers’ £25 million offer has been rejected. And I’m really pleased.

Because this confirms that West Ham are taking seriously the urgent burning need to recruit properly in January instead of relying solely on a loan signing or two to ‘get by’ until the Summer. It also means there is money to spend at the club, despite the now – customary bleating that West Ham are skint and ‘bumping along the bottom’ of PSR.

Don’t believe a word of it. However it is packaged or dressed up, there’s €30 million at least to spend on a striker whether that is Alberto or another choice, it looks like a permanent deal is on the cards for a decent front man.

And I bet the Alberto deal is far from dead: Money talks and another €10 million will work wonders, providing Steidten and Sullivan have learned from the ‘JD’ saga and don’t try and scrimp again. Just cast an eye over the Max Kilman negotiations- three times West Ham and ‘reporters’ claimed the deal was dead.

West Ham approach every window trying to pretend they have no money as if that will make negotiating deals work in their favour. Every club chairman is wise to that strategy. So, nothing changes! Let’s just hope the outcome is more favourable and the club don’t suddenly switch targets from Alberto (Brazil’s golden boot winner) to a 30+ year old journeyman who is ten million cheaper.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

They expect a top top striker for 30 million….yeah dream on …..Duran was best deal they woukd ever get and they fkd IT …30 million 🤣

  • Paul says:

He was only with Zenit for 5 months. Fullkrug has been with us for 4.5 months so his stint at Zenit can hardly be described as evidence that he can settle and be successful in another country.

    • rollercoaster hammer says:

Fullkrug has been in Germany for a good slice of that 4.5 mths, so him being “with us” is wide of the mark.

  • Mogg says:

This whole Fulkrug saga stinks and is highly suspicious.

£27M for a 31 year old injury prone striker who didn’t really want to be here and is likely heading back to Germany as early as January?

As other articles have stated. We were looking at young, pacey and powerful strikers and ended up with Fulkrug? How on earth did that happen?

Is it possible our German DOC has had a back handed deal with a German club and done his employer like a kipper?

I hope the club are doing an internal investigation in to this deal as foul play can’t be ruled out here.

Do you not think most of the top sources from within the club and the recent article about Fullkrug in the Sun (Brady has her own column) are all just trying to make you think a certain way?

What about the 50+ strikers signed by Sullivan before Fullkrug? Should we look in to potential kick backs regarding Will Salthouse transfers?

Don’t fall for the smoke & mirrors routine.

Do you have a short-term memory like Martin? It was only last week Martin was saying what a top signing Alberto would be after scoring 30 goals.

In his own article on 14/12 entitled Steidten Target | Brazil’s Top Scorer & Award Winner

      Martin wrote this…..

“We can but hope that this is another Brazilian who gets onto Steidten’s private jet on a one-way trip in January”

Now Martin is really pleased we’ve had an offer rejected. C&H come out with so many stories a day as it boosts the advertisers clicks.

Don’t take things too seriously. Especially C&H top sources or their exclusives, which I might add are also found on other sites claiming to have sources from within West Ham.

      • Martin Treasure says:

Well thank you for your analysis,’Andy’. You’ll see if you read the article today that I’m pleased we’ve made an offer. Alberto would certainly be a top signing. Having an offer rejected, as I state, is proof that the hammers have money are interested in the player.
Nowhere does it say “I’m pleased we are not buying this player’.

        • Andy says:

I switched off early and missed the bit below. Sometimes your negativity to our current striker makes me give up and in this case “Martin” I owe you an apology.
