Step forward Haller as Pelle looks to move ahead

Manuel Pellegrini is convinced the Irons squad are ready to put Wednesday night behind them.

And he seems sure they can maintain their form over forthcoming games starting at Bournemouth tomorrow (Sat).

And if that’s to happen Sebastien Haller is certain to be playing a major part after making a massive impact since his London Stadium arrival from Frankfurt Eintracht.

Pellegrini could hardly be more impressed with the Frenchman and sees him as key to everything that is happening at the moment .

His work ethic is extraordinary and has of course been widely praised from pundits for his hold-up play and line leading abilities in a start to the season that has surprised many.

That he has scored three goals along the way is a real bonus and he is already paying chunks off the club’s £45 million record spend.

Pellegrini is fighting to make sure the squad maintains their form despite the Oxford United setback and has spoken of Haller in the highest terms as a player who can only improve.

He said in today’s presser ahead of the game at Bournemouth: “Sebastien Haller has made a good impact in the Premier League. He’s a player that works a lot for the team and he is scoring goals.

I saw in the way that he continues in the team, he is playing well, and his performances are good. I think that he will continue improving.

The next match is just as important as any other, it doesn’t matter whether or not we beat Bournemouth anything .can happen in future games.

We are currently sat at 3rd on the table with match points but fifth by goal difference.

We must do everything we can to defend the position we’re currently in, the team is only getting started as we’re only six games in, anything can happen so we must keep our top form to have a chance at Europa League.

Recalling last Saturday’s game he added: “The pace against Manchester United was good, and the concentration was high, which is most likely what stopped Man United doing anything during the 90 minutes.

  1. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways or at least draw. One thing that is concerning is that any injury to Haller or if he’s not having a great game in future, what striker do we have to bring on. I dont think we have any proven one at this level that could do a job if needs be..

  2. Weren’t we looking at a South American recently? Perhaps we could free up some of next years’ transfer money early. We definitely have to get some cover.

  3. I think todays game shows what we are missing in some ways and that is a second striker or central midfielder to be able to break at pace, Antonio will be out for a long time and obviously he has played that role, Anderson should be coached into that he has the pace to run in behind but rarely does. It feels like we are nearly there going forward but are lacking that searing pace to finish teams like Bournemouth off. Hopefully we go in for Morelos at Rangers or Barbosa. Saying that 2 2 is an excellent result against a very good team and its an improvement on last season, well done for coming back COYI !!!
