Sting In The Tail | Hammers Dithering Could Cost Them Dear – Again

The big fear this transfer window is that there are several Premier League clubs all chasing that elusive, affordable striker. Several times reports have been forthcoming about Leicester, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Spurs all stalking West Ham in their search to bring a new frontman to London Stadium.

Yesterday the prospect of Brian Brobbey being signed as West Ham’s new striker became front and central as it became clear that the Hammers were seeking to negotiate a loan with Ajax.

The false claims just this morning that Brobbey was on his way to London Stadium for his medical belied the truth – no final deal had been brokered which still left the door open for other Premier League sides, now alerted to the players availability, to muscle in. This, remember, was a player linked with Ten Hag’s Manchester United not so long ago.

As feared – Fabrizio Romano is now reporting that this is exactly what has happened. Tottenham have asked Ajax for the loan terms for Brobbey in a late attempt to hijack West Ham’s proposals to bring the young striker to East London.

Whilst West Ham seemingly dither over the ‘loan with mandatory purchase’ deal on offer from Ajax, Tottenham seek to steam in and steal Brobbey out from under their noses. As we wrote earlier, time to get the cheque book out or risk another massive fail.

The tweet from Romano states West Ham have already made a loan offer plus obligation to buy which is what Ajax are insisting on and in direct talks. Whereas Tottenham have asked to be kept informed on loan conditions and appear at the moment to only be interested in a loan offer to cover for Solanke’s injury. Kyle only joined yesterday and every football site and ITK reported West Ham’s interest which obviously alerted other clubs. C&H reported he was originally 3rd on our transfer target list but has moved ahead of Ferguson and Silva in the last 48 hours. I don’t understand how that is dithering. His goalscoring record this season is only 3 goals and 7 assists from 29 games and he’s scored only 1 goal in 17 Eredivisie games, after a great season last year scoring 22 times plus 12 assists.

I would be more worried about us signing Silva as he has only scored 1 goal and 3 assists and very limited appearances this season.

Strange that how Tottenham interest always pops up when an agent is trying to sell their player to West Ham.

Classic Sullivan low balling no doubt if the rumours are true, there are so many leaks from the board it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not. Micky Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Dopey in control.

  • Bill Ryan says:

Spurs only want him as cover for solanke Ajax already stated a straight loan deal isn’t on the table it’s either a loan with obligation or a straight money deal, spurs want as a sticking plaster for solanke not a permanent transfer

  • Jamie Hickman says:

What exactly are we continually dithering about. Is this all just fakery being disseminated from the club for the fans benefit?

  • Denis says:

Typical Sullivan to slow to catch a cold

  • Al says:

    Above them in the league,

Would be our first choice striker,

Already played with kudus and alvarez,

New manager that plays youth and helped develop multiple talents at Brighton that have went on to champions league clubs,

It makes more sense for him to come to us, the only thing holding this one back is Sullivan currently probably leaked it himself.

I’ve also just read that rudd van nistlroy may resign from Leicester, I wondered if he fancied putting a pair of boots on again…. I mean I’m beginning to think that not too gar fetched

  • Frank Reed says:

Just get the impression a lot of these targets are like mercenaries looking for a better life in football. What’s wrong with coming out in media and saying I want to go here/there to play in the premiership and complete a future. So many times it’s all about other clubs stalking/hijacking, corrupting the agents and fans slagging off the owners for not doing enough, has to be a nightmare to sign anybody in this window, I reckon ride the storm and rebuild at the end of the season.

If spurs come in its game over

  • Mick Bering says:

News just out from Tottenham They are close to signing ahead of us

  • M B says:

Are you surprised? This is the way Sullivan always operates. Expect the ‘we tried, but…’ propaganda soon.
