Stopper arrives at Rush Green

|

Alphonse Areola is at Rush Green and seemingly a few hours or less to signing for the Hammers.

The PSG goalkeeper is being widely reported as being set to join the club as a possible, immediate or occasional replacement for Lukasz Fabianski this season

And we have had it confirmed by the club within the last few minutes that he is indeed at the club’s training ground  and that a deal is expected to be closed during the afternoon or evening.

Areola is likely to arrive on a loan with either an option of obligation to buy which means that David Moyes will want to take a good look t the stopper thus presumably limiting Fab’s appearances.

And it puts paid the speculation that the Hammers are set to buy West Brom’s Sam Johnstone.

Areola – should the deal get done as expected – will be the first signing the club has made since confirming Craig Dawson had become a permanent arrival during the season.

Great signing, I honestly believe that he could be our number one pretty soon. Imho he commands his area better than Fab( who has been great for us) and also his distribution is better… COYI

CONFIRMED! This is a really great signing, and pne I have been thinking about and wanting since watching him last season. It has previously been widely reported we were only after defender, striker and Jesse; but this signing proves Moyes keeps his cards close to the chest and leaks from the club has been heavily reduced (making C&Hs life a bit more difficult ;)). Anyway, great news!

Brilliant news this is more like it !!! Perreira, Sima and a striker would be awesome for this window, Zouma from Chelsea not a bad shout either he does have the odd bad game but hopefully Moyes could work on that COYI!!!

I was hoping we would do a deal for Johnstone as he is English etc, although looking at it pragmatically, Areola is probably the better keeper of the 2- and if reports are to be believed that he has bought a house in London, he is hopefully here for the long term.. Good signing. 1st of several I hope…

This is excellent news, as he is a top keeper and his distribution is very good. Now all we need to do is bring in Pereira and then our transfer business is up and running in the right direction.
