YOU have to feel for the player, first and foremost, of course – a ‘catastrophic’ season defining injury is about as bad as it can get. West Ham United’s list of available striker targets just got one name shorter as the Guinea Bissau international Franculino Dju reportedly faces at least four months on the sidelines.
Dju, claimed to be the subject of a David Sullivan offer last summer of £13 million, was reportedly back on West Ham’s wish list with an altogether more grown up £35 million price tag. Danish news outlet tipsbladet.dk confirmed the extent of the FC Midtjlland striker’s crisis:
“Franculiono has undergone a minor operation .. the expectation is that he will be ready to play again in March”

Franculino Djú was wanted by West Ham, amongst other sides
“Catastrophic” claimed Danish reporter Mads Junker.
Whilst the injury is not yet specified, it rules him out of action in his own domestic league and off the West Ham shortlist.
It more than likely means Dju won’t be adding to his phenomenal record of 21 goals in 30 games which is what brought him back to the attention of half a dozen sides before his injury brought matters to a shuddering halt.
Another case of the Hammers striker curse? It may indeed be another spoke in the wheel driving West Ham towards a domestic signing from the Championship, with three names now reported in the growing wake of speculation ahead of the winter window opening in a couple of weeks time.
I have a cunning plan…
Let’s put bids in for the strikers of all our relegation rivals. Let the West Ham striker curse work in our favour…
Can’t argue with that logic.
