Joe Cole has called on Brighton striker Evan Ferguson to reject Arsenal’s transfer interest and join his former club West Ham this January.

Brighton are willing to loan out the Ā£60m-rated Republic of Ireland international, but not until later in the transfer window. A London Stadium insider admitted to Claret & Hugh, “We can’t afford to wait. We’re working flat-out to bring in a striker now.”

Arsenal are also eyeing the 19-year-old, but Cole believes Ferguson would be better suited to Graham Potter’s West Ham project, especially with the Hammers desperately needing a centre-forward. Injuries to Niclas Füllkrug and Michail Antonio, coupled with Danny Ings’ less than impressive performance against Villa, have left the club short in attack.

The Irons are increasingly being linked with every striker from the very top clubs to Timbuktu Rovers as our desperation is seized upon by the transfer gossip columns.

However, Ferguson is the only striker West Ham have publicly confirmed interest in, making him a key target for Potter’s rebuilding plans. With crucial games ahead, the club must act fast to avoid further setbacks in an already difficult Premier League campaign

Wissa from brentford would be decent

  • Gareth says:

Think we should go for someone like Inaki Williams he basically has a club record for never being injured something that surely would benefit us and he has power and pace

  • Q says:

Irionically a Joe Cole endorsement might mean other clubs go after him and we won’t get him.

  • Wayne says:

£60 million? Had 1 decent-ish season and has rarely played since.

No team is paying £60 million for him and if he was that good a) he would be playing week in week out for BHA and b) he would have been sold by now.

  • Gaz says:

Delap is far better. Not even on the radar.

    • Jeeps says:

If David is pie in the sky as suggested Delap would be next best option but don’t think he is going to be on offer.
Another alternative was Lath but it seems like he’s going to Atlanta for Ā£16m.
Potter wanted powerhouse Philip Billing, to late, he’s joined Napoli on loan.
As previously stated whu and quick transfers just don’t go together.
At this rate signing a decent striker is going to be remote and the knives will be out.
Brighton playing cat and mouse with Ferguson but not sure about his history.

  • Jeeps says:

What happens at end of January when Brighton decide not to make him available?
Or first game has a reoccurrence of his injury.
Laborde is another player whose been suggested (amongst many).
Ok only £12.5m but aged 30 with no resale value.
Only get what you pay for and cheap is nearly not always the best.
Jonathan David is far more suited at £25m for age / goals / long term and resale value.
Fans will be over the moon and Sully could earn some much needed endearment.

    • SydneyC says:

Why would Jonathan David come to a mid-table, no euro footy club now, when he can wait until the end of the season and sign a lucrative deal with a big club in champs league? It beggars belief the nonsense people believe on these click bait sites. Much like the mythical $45 million for Duran, of which there is no proof other than a bunch of sites repeating each other’s stories, this too is made up to get ad revenue. The worst part is people let this stuff wind them up. They will be on this site calling out Sullivan for being cheap and ruining our club. And they would be correct. Sullivan has enough cock ups to already demonstrate he is crap owner we don’t have to add made up stories to justify our disdain.

  • HammerDan says:

If he’s that good why is he not making an impact at Brighton, like Duran is at Villa?

  • Martin B says:

Another injury prone player , we will ever learn

  • Hammeroo says:

This is like waiting on Jesse Lingard all over again. Best we forget Fergie and move on to another player with a club who will play nice. We haven’t got time to dilly dally. David Sullivan has done enough of that already!

  • TheGentleman says:

God I’d love this Kid. Please bring him in Super Tim.. āš’ļø COYI

  • Essexiron67 says:

We can’t wait until the end of the window and I thought Ferguson was injured again

    • John simmonds says:

Good player. Shame about his ankle. You can see it coming….. 1 game and a recurrence. Move on.
