I wrote a piece on Mike Antonio the other day saying that for me he is right up thereĀ among the Hammers I have most admired during my time supporting the mighty Hammers.
And that he has now signed a new deal which will see him spend 10 years at the club since joining under Slaven Bilic isĀ brilliant news as far as I am concerned.
I think he and his agents may have been very clever in seeing him linked to Wolves and the Saudi League when seemingly the whole idea was to get him a new deal at the London Stadium.
I’m glad they did because even at 33 he has proved himself the best striker in the club over several years.
Loyalty is not a word one can usually use in the same sentence as ‘football’ but for him to be with us for ten years will be a tremendous achievement. His touch may not be the greatest and he suffers loss of form and injuries but a two year deal remains excellent news.
Mike Antonio has a lot left to offer this club having offered a tremendous amount down the years.
He has come a long way since Slaven reckoned he would become the best right back in the Premioer League.
Thanks Mikey – top man!
I think this is good news. We do need another 9 to compete with Antonio. The big problem i have is how we get kudus into our starting 11 asap. Moyes has his favourites and will continue to pick players like Soucek and continue to keep players like bowen on the pitch when he is tired or not playing well. Moyes’s decision to select soucek at weekend was in my opinion a terrible decision. Soucek is no longer a starter with the players we have. Neither is Benrahna. The decision to bring benrahma on instead of fornals was another huge error of judgement. Moyes will not change despite all the talk he will change. For this team to evolve quickly we need a manager like potter. If we sign lingard it will be another huge error.
