Sullivan gets a new Number Two by Hughie Southon

Make no mistake about this Tim Steidten is becoming the next most influential man inside West Ham United second only to David Sullivan.

Nobody – in saying such a thing – is diminishing the role of the manager who is doing a very fine job on the training ground and in the dugout plus  his player choices in the last window.

However, choices are  one thing but achieving them is quite another and that has what the peerless German has so far managed with the likes of bringing in Ajax top duo Alvarez and Kudus at a ridiculous price by current standards.

Important number two does the business

But there is more, and it came last night from Sullivan when he made it clear to us that the new technical director had worked with himself on sorting out the four year deal signed in the summer by Tomas Soucek. Not even the late and much missed David Gold was involved to that extent as DS’ partner,

And there is even more as Sullivan also made it clear to us that Steidten was  also been involved in helping him agree the deal which has kept Jarrod Bowen at the club for another seven years.

Steidten’s powers of persuasion have become key to some crucial decision making by players and, as Sullivan’s choice for the job, has  become the club supremo’s new Number Two!
