Sullivan hits back at “no funding” reports

david-sullivan_1822192c (1)David Sullivan has hit back at reports the club he will not be bringing in more players this month “due to funding not being available.”

In an official statement to the club website he said: “I have been made aware of reports suggesting that there will be no more players joining the Club this month due to funding not being available. Nothing could be further from the truth.

“The manager David Moyes has the Board’s full backing in this window and, together, we continue to work night and day to bring in players to add quality and depth to the squad, despite January being a difficult time to do business.

“We are undefeated in our last five Premier League matches and are working round the clock with the manager to do all we can to ensure this run of good form continues.”

  1. Waffle !!! Ask him how much is available .
This statement means nothing or explains anything ! Its waffle ! What’s 5 games unbeaten have to do with the crisis were in ? Waffle ?
Get out of the way and allow someone else to take us forward as you can’t !
    How much is available Sullivan!!!!

  2. Then splash the cash. All this rubbish about not being able to sign players in January.Everyone has a price but as usual we will have to pay over the odds as everyone knows how desperate we are and can hold us to ransom.Thats your doing Mr Sullivan as you never plan long term and invest properly into the club.Buying odd players at 20 mill each season is not enough in the premiership anymore nor is grubbing around for loans.

  3. Heard it all before… Full of ****

  4. The club’s been Sullied.

  5. Did the same at Birmingham. Agree with earlier comments – how much is available? I don’t trust any of the Board.

    • Absolutely robbiem. You said it for me. Weren’t we promised a world class stadium and world class players? I don’t believe Sullivan at all, any more.As for the board they need sacking; full stop.

  6. In my opinion the main problem with the Board is that they undermine managers and players – while Fonte started weakly last season once we went to a back three he was very solid and perhaps helped ensure our PL survival (Swansea and Spurs at home were crucial victories)

The reason why we are short at the moment is that Slaven sold players (Feghouli, Nordveit, Fletcher) and let Snodgrass go on loan as he believed that would help fund the move for Carvalho – by Sully’s own admission he offered less than the asking price – so that he coudl say that we did make an offer

We can understand that DM has to ensure PL survival – otherwise he and his team will be out of a job – but what the games against Shrewsbury and Wigan showed is that with just half of teh team out we are way out of our depth

Hopefully we will get two or three more playesr in and survive so that DM and team can have a proper transfer window in the summer

  7. If the funds are available how come you have been so unable to bring in what we desperately need, aah yes because when you say funds are available you are talking about what you would pay for a League 1 player not a Premier League quality one. I understand the pot isn’t bottomless but if you don’t get a deal you don’t want to know. As in any business you sometimes have to pay over the odds to get what you want and need and that is the Jan transfer window. We need a striker and 1-2 midfielder/ defender; you going to get that done by end of Weds?
