West Ham may be left to slug it out with Chelsea for £15 million rated Charlie Austin as rumours grow that the Queens Park Rangers 
striker wants to stay in London.
Newcastle boss Steve McClaren is a big admirer but is trying to find out whether the 25 year old is open for a move to the north east.
Austin himself threw a shadow over those hopes when, after being linked to a move to Tyneside, tweeted: ‘Honestly where do people get this stuff from’.
However, West Ham United and Chelsea are also keeping an eye on Berkshire-born Austin who was named in Roy Hodgson’s last England squad.
Austin interests Chelsea and the speculation linking us with last season’s 18 goal hitman increased when bookies suspended the betting on him signing an Upton Park deal.
And that may well have been helped by David Sullivan’s son Jack writing in his column on the official site: ” We could buy someone for £15m but it has to be right for the football club.”
Yeah I saw that and a lot saying Slav only got the job cos he’s an ex player,mediocre manager at best,done nothing at Besiktas (obviously not checked the true record or spoken to any of their fans) but they all then obviously wish him well FFS.

Lol Quick.Well i wasnt trying to be rude to people but some seem to have no grasp of a players worth in this day & age.Strikers in The Champioship move for more than 5m.It is all relative.Ofc a player who has just bagged 18 in the Prem is going to command a price tag in the 15m bracket.We paid 16-18m for our own shirehorse AC two seasons ago,lol,how the hell is Austin not going to be valued around about 15m.I surrender.Im going back to my peace pipe 😀
McClaren when at Derby had a 9m bid turned down for Troy Deeney in the jan window,another Championship player as he was at the time.But in relative terms Austin is worth a 5m bid or isnt worth 15m after 18 Prem goals.Some of you are either totally clueless or smoke too much pot!!

I think if it’s true , then Austin has the choice of warming the Chelsea bench for most of the season or getting quality game time at the Boleyn.
Chelsea just want to increase their Home Grown contingent as do Man City cos of this Fair play thing, hope players can see this blatent strategy of the big clubs and reject them , especially if they want to play , if it is only the money then go to Chelsea, Man City or whoever but you wont play much.

Strikers will always be priced at a premium, and our mkt is definitely overinflated due toTV money, hence why increasingly looking elsewhere for value. I saw Austin at Swindon and he was well above everyone else then and will score wherever he is. Reminds me of Dean Ashton, so would love him at The Boleyn this coming season but no more than £10 million. His choice if between us and Chelsea is one of the most exciting project in Europe or as an understudy to the main striker elsewhere, hardly help his playing for England to be an understudy eh!!

A good signing at 5m but a poor signing at 15m, better players out there and I trust in the two David’s and Slaven that they know this. If they don’t then I think we have another Brendan Rodgers in charge – a good coach but a poor manager and to be honest I don’t think we have that.
Think he would be a fantastic signing.I read about people saying he will be a one season wonder.Well quite frankly who knows,but i prefer to believe he will be a consistent goalscorer.He has done it everywhere he has played.I think i will trust my instinct on Austin rather than be swayed by a few ‘expert’ supporters guess work.
