Sullivan must sort Hammers issue

|

With so little time left to bring in new players before the season starts, Claret and Hugh follower Selsdon Hammer addresses what may be a problem between manager Davis Moyes and new technical director Tim Steidten

By Selsdon Hammer

West Ham's dithering in appointing a director of football may give them a disadvantage signing players.

Sullivan

If the rumours of a rift between Tim Steidten and Moyes over the type of players the club need to target are true, and there is nothing to suggest that they aren’t. then Sullivan needs to show who is boss.

He appointed Steidten but seems content for Moyes to call the shots, which is making the club look ridiculous and blatantly hindering progress in the transfer market.

Sullivan needs to back Steidten now and tell a manager who is in the last year of his contract to toe the line. The only person who should be able to veto transfers is Sullivan, not Moyes. In football parlance Sullivan needs to “sort it out”.

I wholeheartedly agree with Selsdon Hammer. And it’s a matter of utmost urgency that the current situation, whatever it is, is sorted. And if a head has to roll, to accomplish order, then so be it.

Right now I worry that the club I love is becoming a laughing stock and an embarrassment. I’m also worried that we may find ourselves at the bottom end of the Premier League again by Christmas. Obviously there is discontent amongst the players. Things are not being handled very well.

It seems like deja vu because this time last year we were in a somewhat similar situation, particularly with Dithering Dave and the transfer window. And we ended up throwing silly money around at the last minute on players, seemingly without any due diligence having been done. Are we heading for another catastrophe?

A minimum is we now have to back the new DOF – he has to be trusted and quickly. How much money has Moyes cost the club in buying players not suited to his system. Vlasic, Haller, Scamacca etc. The club have no idea how horrible this is going to end up.

The only thing that is becoming plain to me. The Board are “BALANCING THE BOOKS”, to those of us old enough to remember this is the years old excuse of the Board to hold West Ham back to hold onto money. The intention in my opinion is to say stuff Europe and stuff the fans. We are buying NO ONE. No one wishes more than me that I am wrong, yet years of supporting West Ham and indeed my Dad before me, have made me very cynical. We are showing all the signs of doing nothing. If we were going to do something Moyes would have been sacked.

    Agree 100%

Be far better if he just told Moyes to get lost!
