Sullivan: “Our team doesn’t need major surgery”

|

David_Sullivan_gives_Hammers_signDavid Sullivan has told the Sun newspaper that while Christian Benteke is a player the club admire most clubs would struggle to afford his huge wages. The chairman reconfirms the club’s commitment to find a twenty goal a season striker

“He’s a player we admire but the problem is that he is on huge wages that no club can afford. What we don’t have is 20-25 goal a season striker. If we did we’d be even higher up the table.

“Andy has scored some big goals this season. Four doesn’t sound much but they have been huge goals and he has made a huge impact coming off the bench. He is a ‘chaos’ player but maybe not a real top, top consistent goalscorer.”

We need a good defender who can cover all positions Burke,Oxford,Hendrie,Dobson,Tomkins,Ginge,Henry, might just have enough cover,
    Midfield No Vacancy
    Forward 1 good one required
    Winger 1 good one required
Any other upgrades can be brought in by selling the player they will replace,
    Samulsun will cover Moses
    Norveldt will cover Song
    Byram has covered Jenkinson
We don’t need loads of money just better players

As I have said before, I think we need BACK UP L + R backs. We cannot expect Byram and Cressie to go through the whole season and Europe without an injury…or great fatigue (= bigger risk of injury).
While Tomkins has done fanatasically well at RB, he is still basically a centre half – and a very good one too! At RB, I think he would be critically exposed in Europe.
Generally, if we get into Europe, we must rotate. There are far far too many games. Generally, teams do very badly after having played Euro games, especially away.
To me, the nigthtmare is if we get into the Europa Cup. All the disadvantages, and few benefits. And watch out for their tricks getting our players sent off….!
