Sullivan speaks on Ogbonna’s future

West Ham will be offering Angelo Ogbonna new deal despite the central defender having suffered a potentially season ending injury.

The club hold a year’s option on the 33 year old’s current deal and have now made it clear he will be getting a new offer from the club.

Doubt was thrown over his situation when it was announced this morning that he had suffered an ACL injury which could keep him out of the team for seven months.

It could have been a massive blow to the Italian who reaches his 34th birthday in May and comes to the end of his contract in June.

But chief shareholder David Sullivan immediately told ClaretandHugh there was no question the player would be offered new terms.

He told us exclusively: ” We are honourable people and as a club have to do the right thing by  our players and thus we will take up the option/offer him a new deal.

I believe in Karma and doing the right thing is very important to me, even if it is a gamble.”
