Sullivan told Spurs he wanted Kane

Cheik Kouyate – was a Spurs target

David Sullivan – confirming CandH stories that Spurs wanted Cheik Kouyate last season – revealed he had told the North Londoners he would want Harry Kane in exchange!

He explained the conversation took place at the end of last summer and that Spurs had offered £15m for the Senegal midfielder.

Sullivan said: “Spurs came on for Kouyate. They said: ‘What would you take for Kouyate?’

“We said we’d take Harry Kane. Silence on the other end of the line.”

Kouyate has since signed a new five-year deal in March and has been one of the club’s most impressive performers as we challenge for Europe.

Sullivan revealed: “We wouldn’t sell Kouyate. He is not for sale. He signed his new contract and he came out like a tiger the following day. He is a huge man, a real athlete, very fit. A very good player.”
