Sky Sports transfer expert Florian Plettenberg has delivered a cryptic West Ham update by declaring that Crysencio Summerville has completed his Hammers medical. However, the Sky Germany insider also suggested that the deal between West Ham and Leeds United has not been finalised, and neither have terms with the player himself.

It’s a strange update containing both good and sobering news, but I’m not concerned at this point.

While I would not accuse Plettenberg of scaremongering, it seems highly unlikely that Leeds would give their player of the season permission to travel to London and complete a medical without being certain of a deal.

As for concerns regarding the player’s wages, I don’t think there will be too much of a problem for the Hammers, given that he is arriving from a Championship team. Clearly, Summerville has accepted the opportunity to play for West Ham by traveling to Redbridge for his medical today.

Hopefully, all will be concluded soon enough.

Plettenberg posted on his social media: “Crysencio Summerville completed his medical with West Ham today. However, there are still no total agreements. On the player’s side, there are still details to be clarified regarding the contract length, whether four or five years. Also, there is no complete agreement on the final transfer fee with Leeds United. The details are still being worked out, but the medical check is already done now.

Füllkrug or Duran, Wan-Bissaka, Summerville… Busy days for us.”

Typical of the way West Ham do business thoroughly incompetent, the medical is the last piece of the gigsax in a transfer deal not as it would appear the first, because if the dead does fall through the cost of the medical is wasted. It seems that the club is penny pinching in some ways and extravagant in others.

what’s the plan? So far only a weaker team for coming season. Why sell and look for inferior, cheaper replacements? Money making before progress?????

I think it is a done deal.
Personally,I don’t like the attitude of Villa and would withdraw our perfectly generous offer for Duran. He is a born trouble maker

You say wages won’t be a problem yet our experience of Sully is that he is tighter than a ducks butt and frequently it is wages that are a problem, Farbricio Bruno as a recent example.

    • Gonzo says:

Yeah, it can happen mate but Bruno hadn’t had a medical and wanted over £120k per week which is bound to make Sully flinch.

Summerville has been at Rush Green this afternoon and probably getting half what Bruno wanted so I suspect the deal is nearer to completion that Sky reporter suggests.

Fabrizio Romano has said the deal is £25 million plus add ons, who to believe???

  • John Ayris says:

Things are usually pretty much done by the time it comes to the medical.

Has anyone ever heard of a transfer not going ahead after a medical has been passed ? I don’t think I have.
