West Ham seek to capitalise on their uptick in form as they entertain London rivals Crystal Palace this weekend. After overcoming Fulham in a magnificent team performance without six first-team players, Graham Potter will be hoping for a recovery of some of his key men to give him more attacking options. Crysencio Summerville limped around for the last ten minutes of the first half of West Ham’s game against Aston Villa and was then substituted at half time.

We’re still waiting a little bit on Cree [Summerville]” Potter confirmed to Hammers fans. “We’ll probably have to make a late decision. The game might come too soon, but we’ll see. There is still a bit of time.”

Potter also revealed to the club web site that he does not expect goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, defender Jean-Clair Todibo nor captain and forward Jarrod Bowen to be available for Saturday’s game. So another game with ‘clean sheet’ Wes Foderingham, Hammers’ third choice keeper, sat ready and waiting on the bench.

Seeing Jean-Clair Todibo heavily wrapped up against the chill but ‘present and correct’ at the game on Tuesday night against Fulham was a big boost, though: Previous reports had not elaborated on his whereabouts since he ‘left for treatment’ heading to France whilst Lopetegui was still at the helm. The re-integration of Lopetegui’s ‘naughty boys’ continues as the want-away list seems to be evaporating.

We have to learn anew the head coaches’ attitude to releasing player availability before a game: Lopetegui used to be coy with his ‘one or two little knocks’ which then turned out to be nonsense as he fielded a full squad.  Whether Potter is keeping his cards close to his chest with Summerville, we’ll find out tomorrow. He’d certainly be a huge asset to West Ham against ‘Palace as his first showing in the right wing-back role would have earned him the man of the match performance had he stayed on the pitch for the second half.

The Transfer window is still open, we have no real knowledge of who wants to go or stay, and who loves/hates the new boss.
Suffice to say, West Ham could do with a couple or three fresh faces and maybe lose a couple of not-so-fresh ones.

I hope he’s fit. Summerville’s been fantastic in his last couple of games.
