Supporters’ club search for new venue

|

Members of the West Ham Official Supporters’ Club were told yesterday that a hunt continues for a new venue close to London Stadium for the coming season.

The committee wrote to members by email to say:  “As mentioned in our last update, the summer has seen us trying to engage with various venues close to the stadium but we have still not been able to get a firm commitment from any venue that they will be able to provide us with the facility that we need.  We can assure you that it’s not been due to a lack of effort on behalf of the Committee”

“However, for this Saturday against Athletic Bilbao, we are grateful to The View Tube for offering to host us now that they have re-opened after completing a refurbishment and change of management over the summer.  Stour Space is not open for us on Saturday so please do not go there. The View Tube is very close to the Sir Trevor Brooking Stand and the Stadium Store as it is situated on the top of the Greenway that separates the Olympic Park from Pudding Mill Lane (click here to see a map showing the entry points to the Greenway).  It is a community hub cafe that was originally put in place as a viewing area to watch the development of the park for the London 2012 Olympics.  The closest station is Pudding Mill Lane on the DLR which is less than 5 minutes walk.  The View Tube is open from 9am to 9pm on Saturday but the Supporters’ Club has exclusive use of it from 12pm to 7pm.  There will be security in place between 12 & 7pm so please bring your membership card to gain access as usual!

‘Unfortunately, The View Tube does not have draught beer available yet but we have been told that they will be offering a variety of drinks by the bottle and will have deals in place on bottles. They will also be offering food such as burgers & chips etc.

“We had been considering whether the View Tube could be a viable match day partner for us but, due to the lack of indoor space, at the moment it doesn’t look like it will be viable long term. However, with the weather set to be good on Saturday, it has plenty of outdoor space available. We also know the number of you attending will not be at the level of a normal Saturday 3pm kick off so it should be able to accommodate us without a problem.

For the Manchester City game, we hope to be at our home for the foreseeable future and will let you all know as soon as we have it confirmed”
