West Ham supporters flags including the Claret and Hugh monster flag were banned from the London Stadium last Saturday.
The club blamed the weather claiming it is was too windy to display the fans flags which have been shown at almost every home game since 2017 when they were introduced to improve matchday experience.
It was Storm Jorge that was supposedly was the health and safety risk at the former Olympic Stadium despite spells of sunshine and the odd shower of rain on the day.
Those more cynical supporters suggested the flag ban was more related the Hammers United Greenway Stroll protest than Jorge.
The Hammers say the flags will be back for the West Ham v Wolves on 15 March game weather permitting, that date is also scheduled to be the next Hammers United protest.
Hammers United claimed that over 8,000 protesters took part in the Greenway Stroll saying they claim to that figure using drone footage and density calculation software.
Other estimates vary from low to high.
Pathetic as usual but I’m sure if we were flying flags with GSB are the greatest on them they would certainly be permitted
It was a case of “do what I say not as I do” then ??? West Hams flags and banners were out by the stadium stewards on the pitch ? No worries about them with the storm then
Last Saturday was Storm Jorge. Perhaps the club didn’t realise, either.
If they had, the flags would undoubtedly been permitted……….
