BBC match prediction “expert” Chris Sutton has been taking a keen look at the Liverpool v West Ham game at the weekend and clearly believes it will be a very good match.
Much has already been said and written about it, notably by David Moyes and Michail Antonio and a pretty tight affair looks on the cards.
The Hammers have run the Reds very close in their own backyard at Aintree and after their brilliant start to the season have a real chance of getting a result.
We can’t be sure that Jarrod Bowen will be fit but even if the No 20 doesn’t make it he won’t be missed too badly given the form of new boy Mo Kudus.
The Hammers boss is likely to return to a very similar team to the one which performed well against Manchester City although Konstaninos Mavropanos may have a chance of joining captain Kurt Zouma at central defence given his performance on Thursday against TSC in the Europa League match.
Meanwhile Sutton wrote: “I love the defensive discipline of David Moyes’ sides and the way he thinks as a manager. He knows what his team’s strengths are, and plays to them.
The Hammers will be difficult to break down at Anfield and they will counter-attack when they do get the ball back.
It’s Liverpool’s forwards who will decide this game, though. They have got so many dangerous attackers that they can rotate and cause all sorts of different problems.
I liked their response when they found a way to win after falling behind against Wolves, and I think they will find a way through West Ham’s defence too.”
Prediction: LIVERPOOL 2 WEST HAM O
