Swans v Irons match weather update

|

The Swans v Irons game is currently in no danger of being called off.

According to Wales On Line “as things stand, the game is ON.”

It reports that the Liberty Stadium’s playing surface, which boasts under soil heating, is understood to be fine, while the main roads, concourses and access points around the ground are clear.

It adds: “There are currently no plans for a pitch inspection, and officials are understood to be confident that the game will go ahead.

As well as the state of the playing surface and working out if the surrounding areas are in a suitable state for travelling fans, the club and Premier League officials will also need to look at whether West Ham are able to travel for the fixture.

The Hammers are understood to have set off for South Wales earlier on Friday morning in order to give themselves as much time as possible.

There would need to be a significant turn for the worse in terms of weather for officials to have another look at the situation, although the club and match officials are likely to take a look at the pitch tomorrow morning.

Conditions in East London for travelling West Ham fans are not thought to have a significant impact on the final decision.

Despite a yellow warning for the area for snow and ice, most roads around Swansea remain open, although conditions on the A48 and A465 remain hazardous.”
