West Ham United are reportedly considering a swap deal with Juventus to acquire Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli according to Tutto Juve. The Hammers are keen to strengthen their midfield and believe Locatelli would be a valuable addition. Juventus, in need of a left-back, could be interested in Emerson Palmieri.
Juventus have been in need of a left-back ever since Alex Sandro lost his form two seasons ago. Emerson could be a good short-term solution while they look to balance their books and pursue a younger quality left-back in the future.
A swap deal involving Locatelli and Emerson would be a bad move in my opinion, with only days remaining in the transfer window, the Hammers would be left with only Aaron Cresswell as left back .
This is a swap deal which would clearly benefit just one club and it certainly wouldn’t be West Ham. Head coach Julen Lopetegui is on the lookout for midfield reinforcements but the club are well stocked in that area.
Therefore the proposition of having six midfielders and one left back probably renders this rumour as highly unlikely.
I was worried until I saw it was Simon who wrote the article.
Ha ha, same here, Jh. When Simon says, more often than not you can forget it!
I can’t believe we would do that, that would leave us with Cress for LB ? Been a great servant but his best days are behind him.
There’s no way, IF there was any truth in this, that we wouldn’t be bringing in another left back to replace Emerson.
Decimated cover for left back seems to have gone over Tim/JLo heads.
Emerson is the only full fit player available for this position.
Let’s hope he stays that way and don’t get suspended or injured.
Should have signed left back who could also play c/bk.
@Jeeps. Well, we had a right back who could also play left back or right side midfield but he went to Ipswich because West Ham didn’t value him much. I’m talking, of course, about Ben Johnson. Hope he succeeds there and shows the West Ham hierarchy they made a mistake!
Maybe that’s why we have been linked to Trippier who can play either side?
Hmm not sure but makes sense if both our regular full backs are off…
