Sky Sports has confirmed that West Ham are in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the signing of midfielder Carlos Soler.

Transfer speculation surrounding the PSG playmaker has intensified following reports in the Spanish media that he rejected the chance to join Real Sociedad, instead preferring a move to the London Stadium.

Soler was left out of PSG’s Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre at the weekend and didn’t make it off the bench, despite Luis Enrique making five substitutions.

Speaking on their afternoon show, the Sky Sports panel gave the thumbs up to the potential transfer. “He’s certainly someone I could see Julen Lopetegui liking very much. He’s a really neat and tidy midfielder, technically very good.

Soler is versatile as well; he can play a bit deeper in midfield, although I don’t think that’s where you get the best out of him. I think when the shackles are off, and he can really drive forward, that’s when he comes alive. But he can play a bit wider as well, so I can see why Lopetegui would be interested.”
