West Ham United are definitely ramping up their interest in striker Tammy Abraham this summer, with the English forward reportedly open to a Premier League return, according to HITC.
The Hammers have tracked Abraham for quite a few years now, even attempting to sign him before his move to Roma in 2021.
However,Abraham’s time at Roma has been successful overall, but a serious ACL injury last season limited him to minimal appearances. While he has recently returned to action, his fitness remains a question mark.
Former Premier League pundit Graeme Bailey suggests Abraham is keen on a return to England and wouldn’t be opposed to a move back to the London Stadium. He does have a proven goalscoring record, having netted 127 goals in 325 career matches.
But, and it is a big but. The Irons must carefully consider Abraham’s extensive injury history. He has missed significant playing time due to various injuries over the past few seasons, with the recent ACL injury raising particular concerns about his pace and explosiveness upon return.
For what it’s worth I would advise us to exercise caution, as there might be better options available like Dominic Solanke and Youssef En-Nesyri. That being said, a fully fit Abraham could be a valuable addition to the West Ham squad.
“wouldn’t be opposed to a move back to the London Stadium.” ?
He’s never been a West Ham player! Maybe poorly written, as it’s rather ambiguous.
