West Ham’s financial commitment to Manuel Pellegrini goes much further than his £8 million basic personal terms because the cost of his back up team is also involved in the deal.
And ClaretandHugh has established that totals another £3 million a year when the manager’s number two, goalkeeping coach, fitness coach and recruitment director of his choice are added to the mix.
It means that in total the Hammers are paying out around £11 million a year in basic wages – a figure that could climb steeply should the manager hit bonus targets included in his deal.
Should he bring domestic Cups to the table that will send his deal further and he is also on cash incentives for Premier League positioning and European qualification.
It’s an ambitious package from the club aimed directly at seeing the club go to that much discussed ‘next level.’
With a transfer budget in the region of £75 million – £85 million plus money from player sales, the manager will go into the summer transfer budget better placed than any Hammers boss before him.
I’m curious to find out if we have landed a very wealthy benefactor other than Tripp Smith?
knowing our luck it’s probably Goldman Sachs
no
It’s about time the board realised that to get top manager and he’s staff they have to spend a lot more money than they have been doing it’s only taken them 10 years
If he delivers success I don’t care what he costs or his team, I also hope we do have a European head of recruitment, British talent is improving but it seems to be very expensive in terms of what you get for your money, if this guy can find a lot of hidden gems across the continent or beyond that is what we have been missing, Payet and Lanzini have been great finds and Fernandes has the ability to be a great player although hasn’t yet really shown us what he can do consistently apart from that I am struggling to think of any top quality in the last 10 years that we have bought outright (even Lanzini was a loan to buy).
