West Ham have responded to reports that the club are looking to offload ten players in the upcoming transfer window.
As Claret & Hugh has reported for months now, there is a desire from within the London Stadium to clear the decks before a summer spend-up. And as C&H have been told on numerous occasions by a top club source, there is a need to sell before we can bolster Graham Potter’s squad.
There are limited funds available at present, but if West Ham really are going to make a splash in the transfer window, players will have to be sold.
However, when we asked our top club source whether it would be ten players, C&H were told: “I really couldn’t say how many – selling players isn’t easy. We need to sell a player to fund one coming in.”
We then asked about the rumours of an exit for Guido Rodríguez and speculation that there had been multiple bids for the player. The reply was blunt and to the point.
“We wish,” was the response on Rodríguez – which is hardly surprising given the player’s £100k-per-week-plus wages.
Whilst West Ham would not commit to a number, it is clear there will be a summer exodus in a huge period of upheaval. Reading between the lines there is clearly a small budget remaining which could perhaps fund one decent signing, but any major overhaul will need to be funded by outgoings.
Here we go with the old “we’re skint” routine.
I reckon your inside man Gonzo is David Sullivan himself?
Not a lot of saleable value there. I vote we release whoever we can regardless or pick up minimal fees, and definitely give away Cornet and if necessary Rodriguez. Our wasted wage bill is astronomic
So money men are constantly saying the funds are there, they just won’t be splashed on players not deemed sensible investments but now we need to sell an entire team of players to bring anybody in? Only half would clear plenty.
To use 5 names instantly, Soler and Ings free a lot of wages and Kudus and Aguerd (if sold) could bring in easily around £100m. If Paqueta isn’t banned, he too would fetch a pretty penny. Doubt Paqueta would be going for the £85m City were looking at but £150m+ on just 3 players isn’t close to an unrealistic figure.
In both wages and straight funds, we’ll be more than fine.
thank you for writing the same paragraph 3 times. stretch it out and fill it up with ads. nothing to sre here
Much speculation about who stays and who goes.
Potter is going to need guaranteed replacements before shipping out existing.
Thought process also needs to be anylysed.
Guilherme has caused much deliberation with Potter saying keep and board wants to sell.
Divine Mukasa sold to Man City for £1.5m now being scouted by Bayern and Ajax, where was the foresight?
Guilherme has more prospects than Mukasa, £40-£50m in a couple of years.
Will whu needs allow him the time to mature?
Earthy (seems like to return from loan) which could create space for a Guilherme loan.
who the hell is Divine Mukasa? have some respect for the bloke – like using his actual name. then ypu say we had no foresight for selling him but Guilherme is worth more. so….great! make up your mind. the rest is unreadable
Divine Mukasa is correct. He’s another player Man City poached from us. Not to be confused with the other Devine.
At least somebody keeps up with the news but obviously not bonzo boy
Load of rubbish about we have no money. I’m telling you going by the money people we are not poor by any means . We probably ain’t got what we had last season but saying we are skint is unbelievable.
That’s going to sell season tickets isn’t it . Sullivans the most clueless owner in world football without a doubt.
Has to be Antonio, Alverez, Guilherme, Soler, Irving, Fabianski, Rodriguez, Ward-Prowse, Ings, Mavropanos, Palmieri, Cresswell, Coufal, Aguerd, Cornet and Ferguson. Plenty of wages and transfer fee to recoup. Plus contract releases and loan ends.
In addition
30 mil Alvarez
20 mil Guilherme
5 mil Irving
5 mil Rodriguez
15 mil Ward-Prowse
15 mil Mavropanos
10 mil Palmieri
25 mil Aguerd
10 mil Cornet
Roughly a tidy sum of 135 million recouped.
Sell gullermhe at your peril . That boy is going to be a seriously good player in time . I’m sure some don’t like him simply because steitden brought him in .
Same was said of Savio
Maxwell Cornet no one gonna buy this guy
and no one gonna buy Guido Rodriguez… because he’s on over £100,000 a wk
Guido Rodriguez more likely loan and the same for Cornet … these unimaginably shite players … near impossible to move on
give a choice of who to get rid of Emerson my first choice … worst LB I have ever seen at West Ham … No defensive capability at all 0/10
You’ve named 9 players in addition to losing Ings, Cresswell, Coufal.
Possibility of Potts, Earthy, Casey being upgraded to first team.
None of named players are actual strikers.
£125m is not going far £40m for main striker plus £20m for understudy (injuries).
That leaves £65m to cover named outgoing players unless size of squad is reduced.
£6m per player is just not sufficient.
God. How quickly we’ve fallen since our days in Europe.
Whatever Graham Potter decides he had his work cut out for him we need to be qualifying for Europa league football at least my guess is sell Fabianski, Rodriguez, Ward Prowse, mavropanos, loan out Guliherme, Antonio, Ings and loan out Summerville as he ain’t getting a lot of play time over Kudus and Bowen I would love to see a lot of new faces at West Ham next season we need it we have the oldest team in the premier League
These will all go at least…..
SELL/ RELEASE
Fabianski – Release
Coufal – Release
Zouma – Release
Antonio – Release
Ings – Release
Soler – Release from loan
Ferguson – Release from loan
Luiazo – Sell
Irving – Sell
Rodriguez – Sell
Cornet – Sell
Not forgetting Soucek!!
The worrying point about this…….or one of them!……is we need to get players in early so GP can be working with them as soon as preseason starts. Also, if players from abroad, or even a distance from London, they’ve had an opportunity to start settling in so they can focus on football. This sounds like a torturous first 2-3 weeks as Sully tries to squeeze every penny out of a sale before he even starts negotiating for a buy.
Given the last 18 months, it is so important we get off to a good start but it already feels as if GP will start with one hand tied behind his back.
So long as he still has a leg to stand on!
Who are we, West Ham or Plymouth ???
