West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta takes a step closer to exit
Jacob Steinberg has provided another update on the increasingly fluid situation surrounding Lucas Paquetá.
The Guardian journalist, and West Ham fan, had earlier revealed in his newspaper column that West Ham United had approached Brazilian side Flamengo with a proposal to sell Paquetá, but loan him back to the London Stadium for the remainder of the season.
However, Steinberg has since updated that Flamengo would now prefer to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis immediately. That stance would see Paquetá return to Brazil without any loan-back arrangement.
West Ham are rumoured to have rejected a €30 million bid for the midfielder, but it is believed that any offer approaching £40 million would be accepted by the club.
Nuno Accepts January Departure Is Likely
Nuno Espírito Santo has all but conceded that his prized playmaker is likely to leave during the January transfer window, despite his desire to keep Paquetá involved for as long as possible.
The West Ham boss was reportedly hopeful of including the Brazilian in Saturday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur, but with talks continuing to move at pace, that now looks increasingly uncertain.
As things stand, the momentum appears to be with Flamengo, and West Ham may soon be forced to decide whether holding out for a higher fee is worth the growing disruption of an increasingly ridiculous situation.
If we are selling the disloyal no good snake then let’s hold out for the biggest fee possible, refusing to play because of suspect spinal problems,do me a favour paqueta payet both sound very similar, can’t be loyalty and respect for the team that stuck by him can you shame it hasn’t been reciprocated
There was another article suggesting that Gonzalo Plata could be a makeweight in the deal as they play the same position and Flamengo value him at €25m not sure if you have any news of that Gonzo ?
Not heard anything about that mate but doesn’t mean it isn’t true.
Hold onto him, tell Flamengo if they want him now it’s £50m if not we will keep him. They are basically trying a Payet and if Lucas refuses to play because of a faux injury get him an MRI scan and see whether it’s real or not.
If its not select him to play and if he goes on strike fine him. There is no reason why he shouldn’t stay until the end of the season and there will certainly be plenty of offers, worst case scenario he sees his contract out in the championship he should be good enough to get us promoted.
For the peanuts they are offering it makes no sense to sell let alone without an upside. It is better to let him rot than give him away but our awful chairman will probably sell and we will later find out it was about 10-15 million.
They will sell him on the cheap
