The exciting Iron who can change our season again

Manu Lanzini looked more like his old self

There were plenty of moans after Palace of course – it’s what us fans do when things don’t go 100 per cent right.

But for me one thing started to go very right and his name was Manuel Lanzin.  To say he’s been unlucky not to start since that spectacular goal at White Hart Lane hardly does justice to the word “unlucky.”

Let this be said first! Manu is a proper professional and one of the good guys. Not once have I heard a moan from him over the long period he has been out of form and ignored.

He’s a proper throwback to the days when footballers simply got on it and made no attempts at the player power thing.

The thing with Manu is that even when he appears and is out of form you still feel the potential that he will excite and produce something special.

He showed on Wednesday night how badly he wanted to be on the ball and there were one or two special little moments where he showed he may just be on the way back.

There was a time when he was more than an allegedly £45 million target for Liverpool – then came that injury but at long last I’m hoping against hope he has found – or is starting to find – that brilliant flair again that marked him apart.

Should he do so he’s a class apart and loves nothing more than to straight at – and attack defences.

I badly want him to start at Stamford Bridge on Monday night and if he can find his true ability as Said Benrahma grows into his what an exciting rest of season we have on hand.
