The Final countdown: Our final Irons points tally

|

West Ham could hardly face a tougher run and Manuel Pellegrini’s dreams of grabbing that coveted seventh spot really does look a world away.

Starting on Saturday evening at Manchester United the Irons embark on a series of game which various ‘faces’ on social media appear to believe could leave us pointless until the end of the season.

Others see a maximum of one, presumably believing we can grab a point against either Southampton or Leicester City.

It’s hard to see us getting anything from OT on Saturday although if we can manage to produce 90 minutes to the second half at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening who knows?

VERDICT: ZERO POINTS

Leicester City are next up and currently holding seventh place will provide very tough opposition particularly as they have won their last four games scoring 11 goals along the way. However, in fairness, those results have come against moderate oppostion.

VERDICT: THREE POINTS

Spuds away again comes at the wrong time although trips to Wembley provide no real fears. However, I see nothing from this one.

VERDICT: ZERO POINTS

The penultimate fixture of the season comes against Southampton – another team whose form has soared over recent weeks with wins over Fulham, Spurs and Brighton. I see a draw.

VERDICT: ONE POINT

We travel to Watford for the final game of the season, probably the surprise packets of the season, and we will be desperate to avoid a defeat and go out on a double defeat against the Hornets.

VERDICT: ONE POINT

Leicester ‘moderate opposition’. Bet that is what they are saying about us!!!! With more justification based on recent results.

I think we will know whether the team are ‘on the beach’ by tomorrow night. You say we can’t expect much from Man U but they have had a mid week loss to Barca, following some other poor results. If Pellegrini cannot lift our players to give them a real chasing then he is not worth his salary.
