The Glaring Absentee From Hammers’ Training Video

Much has been made already of West Ham United’s latest media offering ‘Jean-Clair Todibo and Luis Guilherme in Action: Inside at Rush Green‘. You can watch the YouTube video yourself, I have added a link at the bottom of this article. Indeed, it is great to see eight or nine of the Hammers’ non-international players in training, including some welcome footage of Ollie Scarles looking like he has been in the gym during September.

However the person I was looking out for – in view of recent nebulous comments made to Claret and Hugh by our highly placed source at the club when asked about his fitness – was Niclas Fullkrug.

I’ve watched the video three times now – and no sign of ‘The Gap’. In fairness he is not the only one missing from the clip which is about four minutes’ worth of training shoot – Jarrod Bowen and Aaron Wan-Bissaka did not feature either. But I could have easily rubbished my own growing concern that Fullkrug’s injury is worse than admitted IF the German had been in the training video.

He isn’t.

Surely if he is supposed to be  ‘close to, or on the bench’  as we were told, for the game against Spurs in nine days’ time he’d be taking part in training sessions?

It only fuels the speculation that his injury is worse than thought and perhaps, that he does indeed need surgery plus recovery into 2025.

Take a look for yourself,  here is the link to the video on West Ham’s You Tube channel.  I am still hoping to be proven wrong.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Times have changed, all the players have their own training regimes these days, he could be anywhere with many other players, or even just have a day off…
