Just a week to go now until the transfer window opens and West Ham United have apparently been lining up and shortlisting a whole host of strikers in the £20/£25 million bracket.
From Brazilians Yuri Alberto and Igor Jesus, Irish Evan Ferguson (sadly just on loan), German Jonathan Burkhardt and Ivorian Emmanuel Latte Lath – the names all in the €20-€30 million bracket keep popping up making it pretty likely that West Ham’s allocated funds won’t stretch any further.
Latest to be re-visited is a striker with whom West Ham were linked in the summer – Lyon’s Georges Mikautadze was on the Hammers radar in the last window. Reported by C&H earlier this week several clubs including Everton and Turkish Galatasaray are interested alongside West Ham.
Lyon need to raise funds so a sale could well be on the cards, even though Georgian international Mikautadze has not yet completed one season for the French side. Mikautadze made a name for himself with goals in last summer’s Euros and is certainly a handful as a front man available at price which West Ham can afford.
Having been watching these rumours develop it is at least pleasing to see the same characteristic in all – youth! None of them is over 25. Finally the penny has dropped that 30-something frontmen don’t get to make it in the Premier league.
Only six on the shortlist? It would not matter if we had the best of them. We need to get hold of the ball and move it forward with support following to create the chances. Niclas Fullkrug will become an Irons legend if we can be positive, energetic and involved for 90+ minutes in each game.

20 /30 mil for a top quality striker ???? …yeah think your wishing a bit there …..same again..if you want quality, most of the time you hsve to pay top dollar for it …and we know sullivans thoughts on that….Duran was a gigantic mistake and would of sorted us in that position
Need some youth / legs in midfield as well, Martin, that’s essential.
