The jaw dropping statistic that condemns Nuno’s favourite | West Ham News

Largely anonymous again, West Ham’s Brazilian midfielder looked a far cry from the ‘number 10’ talisman that Nuno Espirito Santo waxed lyrical about just a few weeks ago before Paquetá was dumb enough to get himself sent off.

Indeed, upon reflection, it has been a long time since Paquetá has strung together anything more than a few minutes of decent football let alone a man of the match -type performance.

Which made the statistic from footballfancast.com remarkable –  but not surprising.

In their article “ Sullivan must regret not selling West Ham’s 4/10 disaster”, they produce the incredible statistic that West Ham’s most creative player has not produced an assist since the 2023-4 season.

Which is reason enough to offload the troubled Brazilian in the January window. The new look midfield trio of Magassa, Potts and Fernandes can provide a better work rate, lose possession less and quite possibly produce a better level of creativity: At present, Lucas Paquetá would seem to be a luxury player which West Ham simply cannot afford to indulge any longer.

The £30 million or more -which former club Palmeiras were rumoured to be willing to pay West Ham to take their former favourite son home again- suddenly looks very good value.

Nobody is indispensable – and being the creative midfielder who hasn’t created a goal for two years is reason enough to wave Paqueta on his way, bank the fee and bring a fighter to London Stadium next month  who is going to help keep the club in the Premier League.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

We all know how info spreads over the internet.
If it is of interest, gains traction and becomes mainstream.
Why then, give oxygen to those statistics if it is damaging our clubs valued asset?

Surely its better to keep a lid on those stats and let the next suitor discover for themselves, but only after having paid the full ransom!

I’m sure Flamengo and Aston Villa -along with any other club interested in Paqueta- are glued to my blog posts, mate.

I for one say sell him for as much as you can get

Agree John Ayris as I often do with you .
But in all fairness to PAC MAN his position for Brazil is more of a no 8 !
    Certainly not a false 9 ….

Two and a half years of disappointment watching Paqueta flatter to deceive . I felt like he needed to be dropped on many occasions within that time and so sell him now because there is no product from him .

  • John Ayris says:

I left Paqueta out of my starting eleven for the City game Martin.

I can’t include him over Fernandes, Magassa and Potts and I’d rather see Wilson included for attacking presence.

He won’t be in my starting eleven Vs Fulham for the same reason.

100%. Time has come to take the money and stop waiting half a season for a flash of genius.

Aston Villa or Newcastle would pay more than £30m he is a World Class talent imho choosing to play badly to lower his transfer value.

Any feelings I have for him are gone, he is letting his teammates down every game and that is unforgivable.

Let’s get what we can and reinvest it.

I think he is playing for a move, if he is bad enough a Brazilian team might be able to afford him
